[vl] WANGST HOOOOOOOOO
Feb. 7th, 2004 02:21 amRated PG-13 for mildly graphic violence and self-serving Station angst.
Not With a Bang...
"Give up, Corey! There's no way you and your pathetic band of FRIENDS can win against me!" Gameshark's laughter echoed off the walls, terrible and terrifying. Station fell to one knee, panting with exhaustion.
// There's no way to win this one. He's right--we're all screwed. // The Sony Gamemaster closed his eyes, pressing his hand to his bleeding side. Even his weapons were gone, lost or broken in the fight. This was the end, at last.
But he wouldn't die on his knees. Station opened his eyes just as Travis dropped to the ground before him, producing the Crimson Anarch from empty air and smiling menacingly. "I was the one to bring you into this world, Corey Michaels; and I'm going to be the one to take you out--!" The staff's blade ignited in the form of a scythe; Gameshark swung it back, crimson energy glittering in the darkness--
"STATION!" The Sony Gamemaster jerked his eyes away from his impending doom. He only had a second's glimpse of Red and Cassandra before his GunCon came flying his way; on instinct, he snapped out his hand to catch it. Gameshark flinched for a second, startled by the appearance of heroes. "What--?"
"SHOOT HIM!" Cassandra yelled. Station didn't think--he turned and fired, the GunCon blasts bright yellow in the shadows. He fired, thinking: I do not kill with my gun; I kill with my heart.
Gameshark staggered back, gaping wounds in his chest. He began to laugh again, breathless and jerky. "Corey, Corey, Corey, you can't kill me--" His voice cut off when he realized his regeneration cheats weren't working. Station heard the faint sound of the anti-cheat field derezzing--he gritted his teeth and fired one last time, for Gameshark's head.
The dark Gamemaster fell, skull dissolved into a spray of bloody mist. He did not get up. A second of silence reigned, before his corpse dissolved in an explosion of light.
It took nearly a full minute for their vision to clear. But when it did, Cassandra was the first to see: Gameshark was truly GONE, not just in the respawn queue. At first, she couldn't believe her eyes--and then her thoughts immediately flew to Station.
"You did it, Corey! Do you--Station?" Cassandra turned around, looking for the Gamemaster. "Red, where's--"
The last either of them saw of Corey Michaels was the GunCon, burned and blackened, clattering to the ground.
