[personal profile] coronaviridae
You know this was coming sometime. I just spontaneously decided that someday, I would write a comic based on my brainjunk. Something similar to 1/0, as the format would fit how I see the inside of my head. Comics require a form of dramatis personae. So, onward.

Entry the First:
Name: Abernathy
Also Known As: Adrian, Adrian Caspianovich Vorlaikal, DY119 RSD23, Ereshkigal, Irkalla, Sundowner.
Nicknames: Abby, teh Abbeh, pasty creep, whiteboy, white-haired evil, 'Nathy, 'Nat, Abe, Aber, Abercrombie, 'the pervert', 'the token albino'.
Origins and Ontogeny: Abernathy was originally a whimsy, an 'obligatory fancharacter' for the Metal Gear Solid universe, and a Raiden-clone because I had (and still have!) a crush on the character. I believe he started 'life' as female, which probably explains why he's gay in all his various versions.
The first extant version is the Metal Gear fancharacter/Raiden clone, who put on his first appearance in a couple of short soliliquoys and the fanfiction piece 'At Aphelion' (the original starting point for the Metal Gear Parallax series of stories). Lacking the will or motive to app him at Phoenix MUCK as a Metal Gear fancharacter, I ended up tweaking a few minor details and 'porting him almost whole-cloth to Megaman MUSH as a very strange UN diplomat. Most recently, a something very like him has shown up as the first-person narrator of my 'Original World' stories, as a Seraph.
Version Numbers: V 1.0 is the Metal Gear original character, the Raiden-clone with the punkish goth tastes, the bad attitude, and the terrible insecurity. V 2.0 is the UN OC I play at Megaman MUSH. V 1.25 is the In Nomine Balseraph, essentially the same as V 1.0, but trapped in a vessel. V's '1.5' and '1.75' are 'Protoss-Abby' and 'Cat-Abby', essentially the same as V 1.0, but trapped in different bodies. V 1.75 doesn't show up much. V 3.0 is 'Original-World' Abernathy, who may or may not go by another name, and who is a Seraph for the nebulous story-world that Icarus, et al, comes from.
Sex: Male
Age:17 (MGS2), 22 (M3), 27 (OW), ? (Protoss), 5~ months (RL).
Earmarks: Though the various versions differ in trivial details in their appearances, they are mostly similar. Abernathy is an albino -- the amelanistic (type one?) sort, with white hair, white skin, and pink eyes. (Of course, as a Protoss, this works out to white and pale gray skin with blue eyes.) He's an 'image goth', the kind who's always wearing blacks and other dark colors, along with the obligatory Doc Martins. All the versions have a certain penchant for makeup and body paint (black, of course, but also glitter, dark red, blue, -- heck, whatever he can get his hands on!), and all of them (with, perhaps, the exception of the OW version) have a biohazard symbol tattoo'd across their shoulderblades, as well as barcode tattoos. M3-Abby has the most interesting scars; the other version evince only hairline scars here and there, while he's pretty cut up under his shirt. All of them are also cyborgs, though you can't exactly tell that.
Though he likes makeup, and can be an outrageous flirt, and HAS cross-dressed before for fun, Abernathy is hardly what you'd call 'flaming gay'. In fact, despite the perversion he can bring to casual conversation, he's relatively uninterested in sex and can get very 'odd' if pushed pass his self-imposed limits.
History: Abernathy's history, in any version number, is long and complex. The simplest way to put it that encompasses all of them is that he was made and molded for a government power that needed a black ops agent with a bizarre mix of skills. He is primarily -- and best -- identified as a diplomat. This making and molding is very mild in the M3 version -- he was merely cyborged after a training accident that left him functionally dead, then dragooned into service as a UN diplomat.
The other extreme is the MGS version -- created as a 'pretender' for the Patriots' S3 plan, Abernathy was supposed to allow them a 'testing ground' for anything they wanted to try on Raiden, a sort of 'insight' into his progenitor's thought processes, as well as act as the Patroits' 'ace in the hole' -- their agent for 'neutralizing' Raiden once all was said and done. (Thus the codename 'Sundowner', a fitting appelation for US pilots during WWII that shot down Japanese fighterplanes.) His entire personality, from the genetic level up, was literally crafted to serve them -- although he's developed some quirks of his own on the way that make him somewhat unpredictable.
The OW version is a mirror of these basic events, though I haven't given much thought or flesh to them. He's much more like the MGS version, however.
