This being a writing journal ... (muse)
Jan. 21st, 2003 05:03 pmI'm going to toss out an idea I found very appealing that I don't want to lose, and keep it for later so I can expand on it, either in the OW stories or otherwise.
It came to me, while hunting down information on knives for use in making combat scenes with Abby in them more realistic (he strikes me as a knife-fighter--good reach, quick reflexes, and not bothered at all about getting down and dirty with someone he needs to dispose of), that I have this vivid mental image of him as ten or fifteen years older, teaching one of his kids how to fight the same way he learned.
I'm torn between this idea I have of him of being one of those unfortunate people who, either by their own designs, or just by the way life goes, ends up dead at a very young age--and him having kids. (Of course, the whole 'gay' thing somewhat forcludes that, though I know he desperately wants kids...and there are workarounds.) I rather like the second idea--I'd had a thought, before the whole Interpol Director General drama thing, that if Abby could get himself pardoned, and grow up and settle down a little, he'd make a very good senior advisor for someone like McLaren. This is sort of the same line of thought.
All quite interesting; and I need to go find more information on knife-fighting.
sehkmet and I concocted a horrific scenario in which Abernathy and Mikage Yukiato (Kumicho of the Yakuza) get into a bare-fist fight, and maybe environmental weaponry. The entire thought included Abby severing the Kumicho's femoral artery with one of those nasty carving forks, and then torturing him to death with a spoon.
Though that's a little more darker and twisted than the M3 theme will allow, I think.
I've had a few more ideas floating around, too, and
duskpaw suggested a real beaut. I'll think on 'em all.
Now to look up more on knife fighting and write up some attacks.

1) Abernathy discovers who the Kumicho actually is. (A feat in and of itself.)
2) Abby manages to call Mikage out to something 'social' without actually revealing his knowledge.
and
3) Abby manages to provoke Mikage into attacking first.
3 might be debatable, as the situation allows. Even so, it's rather more of a long shot that you should concern yourself with.

Date: 2003-02-09 12:33 pm (UTC)Don't expend so much energy on trying to dissuade me from something I haven't even suggested on M3. :) It's just a fun, cinematic idea that sehkmet and I cooked up while bored. I doubt it's going to happen, primarily because of your objections, and the IC difficulty of pinning Mikage firmly to the Yakuza.
